1. Indian Institute of Technology Madras

About IIT Madras

The Indian Institute of Technology Madras is known both nationally and internationally for excellence in technical education, basic and applied research, innovation, entrepreneurship and industrial consultancy. A faculty of international repute, a highly motivated and brilliant student community, excellent technical and supporting staff and an effective administration have all contributed to the pre-eminent status of IIT Madras. The Institute is proud to bear the laureate of being No.1 engineering university in India. More recently, IIT Madras has been given the title of Institute of Eminence.

In 1956, the German Government offered technical assistance for establishing an institute of higher education in engineering in India. The first Indo-German agreement in Bonn, West Germany for the establishment of the Indian Institute of Technology at Madras was signed in 1959.

The Institute was formally inaugurated in 1959 by Prof. Humayun Kabir, Union Minister for Scientific Research and Cultural Affairs. The IIT system has sixteen Institutes of Technology – the first of these to be instituted were at Kharagpur (estb. 1951), Mumbai (estb. 1958), Chennai (estb. 1959), Kanpur (estb. 1959), Delhi (estb. 1961), Guwahati (estb. 1994) and Roorkee (estb. 1847, joined IITs in 2001).

Admissions

IIT Madras Admission Procedure:

Indian Institute of Technology Madras admissions are offered to B.Tech/B.E programmes based on JEE Advanced scores, to M.Tech and M.E programmes based on GATE scores, to M.Sc programmes based on JAM scores, to M.A programmes based on HSEE scores, to MBA programmes based on the merit of the written test followed by an interview. IIT Madras also offers admissions to Ph.D and M.S programmes based on the performance of students in the written test and interview conducted by the authorities of the institute.

Scholarships

  • 100% Tuition Fee waiver for SC/ST/PH students.
  • Full remission of the Tuition Fee for General and OBC students whose family income is less than ₹1 lakh per annum.
  • Remission of 2/3rd of the Tuition Fee for General and OBC students whose family income is between ₹1 lakh to ₹5 lakh per annum.

2. Indian Institute of Technology Delhi

About IIT Delhi

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi was established in the year 1961. The institute is also known as IIT Delhi. The institute was formerly known as College of Engineering and later on under the “Institutes of Technology (Amendment) Act, 1963 it was renamed as Indian Institute of Technology Delhi. In the year 1963, the institute accorded the status of a Deemed University.

IIT Delhi is one amongst the 23 IITs created to be Centres of Excellence for training, research and development in science, engineering and technology in India. The campus spreads over 320 acres of land. Indian Institute of Technology Delhi is approved by the University Grants Commission (UGC). Residential zone for students, Residential zone for the faculty and other supporting sta, Academic zone for academic buildings and workshops and Culturalcum-social and recreational zone for students are the four functional zones of IIT Delhi campus. IIT Delhi courses include B.Tech, M.Tech, M.SC, M.Sc., M.Des. and Ph.D.

IIT Delhi Admission Procedure:

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi offers varied courses at the undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral level. IIT Delhi admission process for B.Tech and dual degree comprises qualification of JEE Advanced, participation in the JoSAA counselling, document verification and fee payment. IIT Delhi M.Tech Admission is based on Gratitude Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE). IIT Delhi M.Des admission process demands CEED scores. The institute offers admission to M.Sc except for M.Sc.( Economics) and M.Sc. (Cognitive Science) on the basis of JAM followed by the participation in the JAM counselling process.

3. Indian Institute of Technology Bombay

About IIT Bombay

Established in 1958, the second of its kind, IIT Bombay was the first to be set up with foreign assistance. The funds from UNESCO came as Roubles from the then Soviet Union. In 1961 Parliament decreed the IITs as ‘Institutes of National Importance'. Since then, IITB has grown from strength to strength to emerge as one of the top technical universities in the world.

IIT Bombay Admission Procedure:

IIT, Bombay admissions to B.Tech/B.E/BS/Dual Degree programmes, B.Des programme, M.Tech/M.E/M.Phil/MBA programmes, M.Des programmes, M.Sc programmes and PhD programmes on the basis of an entrance examination. Admission to B.Tech/B.E/BS/Dual Degree programmes is offered by IIT Bombay on the basis of scores JEE Advanced and candidates qualifying JEE Advanced will further have to register for JoSAA counselling for participating in the choice filling, choice locking and seat allotment. For admission to B.Des programme, aspirants have to qualify UCEED exam conducted by IIT Bombay and further, they have to participate in the UCEED counselling. Indian Institute of Technology Bombay admission to M.Tech/M.E/M.Phil/MBA programmes are done on the basis of GATE/MAT/CAT/UGC-JRF/UGC-NET. For Admission to M.Des programmes, candidates have to qualify the CEED exam conducted by IIT Bombay.

4. Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur

About IIT Kanpur

Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur was established by the Government of India and was founded in 1959. It is also known as IIT Kanpur. The functioning of the institute started in the borrowed building of Harcourt Butler Technological Institute in 1959 in Kanpur. IIT Kanpur campus has 108 buildings and is spread over 1055 acres of land. The student-faculty ratio of the institute is 15:96. IIT Kanpur courses are offered at the UG, PG and doctoral level. It also offers part time M.Tech./M.Des./MS (Research) and Ph.D courses.

Admissions

IIT Kanpur Admission Procedure:

Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur courses include B.Tech, M.Tech, MBA, BS, M.Sc, MS Research and PhD programme. Admission to B.Tech courses will be done on the basis of JEE Advanced after which the qualified candidates have to appear in the counselling process conducted by JoSAA. In order to take admission in M.Tech courses offered by IIT Kanpur, candidates have to appear and qualify in Gratitude Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) and register for COAP. Candidates who want IIT Kanpur admission for MBA programme have to appear CAT first and apply for the programme on institute website, after which the candidates will be shortlisted for further admission process (GD/PI). Admission to M.Sc courses will be done on the basis of candidates performance in Joint Admission Test. For PhD courses, candidates have to appear for the written test conducted by IIT, Kanpur followed by the interview process.

5. Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur

About IIT Kharagpur

IIT Kharagpur is the first Indian Institute of Technology established in India. Formally inaugurated on 18th August 1951, IIT Kharagpur was, in its infancy, housed in the historic Hijli Detention Camp, Kharagpur. The institute has consistently been in the top 10 technology institutes of the country for years and continues to break ground in research and technology through the multidisciplinary courses it offers. Spread over a huge area of 2100 acres, biggest among all the IITs, IIT Kharagpur is a mini self-sufficient ecosystem in itself.

Admissions

IIT Kharagpur Admission Procedure:

The admission process, entrance exams and selection process for each level of courses at IIT Kharagpur is different. For all B.Tech, B.Arch and integrated B.Tech -M.Tech programs, the admissions take place through the IIT JEE (Advanced) entrance examination. This is the qualifying exam. After the qualifying exams, candidates have to register on the Joint Seat Allocation Authority portal and select their preferred IIT and specialisation. On the basis of the scores in IIT JEE (Advanced) and the preferences selected, candidates are offered an admission at IIT Kharagpur. In the case of B.Arch, candidates need to clear the AAT (Architecture Aptitude Test) in addition to JEE Advanced.
