About IIT Delhi

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi was established in the year 1961. The institute is also known as IIT Delhi. The institute was formerly known as College of Engineering and later on under the “Institutes of Technology (Amendment) Act, 1963 it was renamed as Indian Institute of Technology Delhi. In the year 1963, the institute accorded the status of a Deemed University. IIT Delhi is one amongst the 23 IITs created to be Centres of Excellence for training, research and development in science, engineering and technology in India. The campus spreads over 320 acres of land. Indian Institute of Technology Delhi is approved by the University Grants Commission (UGC). Residential zone for students, Residential zone for the faculty and other supporting sta, Academic zone for academic buildings and workshops and Culturalcum-social and recreational zone for students are the four functional zones of IIT Delhi campus. IIT Delhi courses include B.Tech, M.Tech, M.SC, M.Sc., M.Des. and Ph.D.

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi is located at Hauz Khas in New Delhi. New Delhi Railway Station is the nearest railway station and it is around 14 km away from the institute. Indira Gandhi International Airport is approximately 10 km away and Hauz Khas Metro Station is around 3.6 km away from the IIT Delhi Campus. IIT Delhi Admission

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi offers varied courses at the undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral level. IIT Delhi admission process for B.Tech and dual degree comprises qualification of JEE Advanced, participation in the JoSAA counselling, document verification and fee payment. IIT Delhi  M.Tech Admission is based on Gratitude Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE). IIT Delhi  M.Des admission process demands CEED scores. The institute offers admission to M.Sc  except for M.Sc.( Economics) and M.Sc. (Cognitive Science) on the basis of JAM followed by the participation in the JAM counselling process. M.Sc. Economics is offered on the basis of the marks obtained in the entrance exam conducted by IIT Delhi and performance in the interview. According to the IIT Delhi admission process for M.Sc. Aspiring candidates have to first appear and qualify JEE Advanced.

Candidates qualifying JEE Advanced, have to register on the official website of Joint Seat Allocation Authority for participating in the JoSAA counselling.

Aspirants have to participate in the JoSAA counselling and do the choice filling wherein they have to choose Indian Institute of Technology Delhi as their first preference. After the filling of choices, they are locked and then seats are allotted to the students on the basis of the choices filled in by them.

After the seat allotment in the JoSAA counselling, candidates have to get their documents verified by the authorities and then pay the requisite fee in order to confirm their admission.

Final admittance is given to the students on the basis of the marks secured in JEE Advanced, participation in JoSSA counselling, choice filling, choice locking, document verification and fee payment.

IIT Delhi PG Admission 

IIT Delhi  M.Tech Admission

Candidates have to apply on the website of GOAPS in order to appear for the Gratitude Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE).

Candidates have to qualify GATE and then register on COAP website for participating in the counselling process that comprises of choice filling, choice locking and seat allotment.

Candidates need to choose Indian Institute of Technology Delhi as their first preference during the choice filling and then after the seats get freezed, seats are allotted according to the preference and merit of the students and then once the seat is allotted, candidates have to submit an application on the website of IIT Delhi and get the documents verified and pay the requisite course fee.

After the successful verification of documents and payment of fees students are finally admitted to the M.Tech programme of IIT Delhi.

IIT Delhi  M.Des Admission

Candidates desirous to pursue M.Des from IIT Delhi have to apply and appear for the Common Entrance Exam for Design (CEED) conducted by the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT Bombay).

Aspiring candidates have to qualify CEED and such candidates have to submit an online application form on the website of IIT Delhi.

Applicants have to participate in the counselling process that comprises seat allotment, document verification and fee payment.

After the seats are allotted according to the merit of CEED, candidates have to get the documents verified and pay the fee.

After the successful verification of documents and payment of fees students are finally admitted to the M.Des programme of IIT Delhi.

IIT Delhi M.Sc Admission except for M.Sc.( Economics) and M.Sc. (Cognitive Science)

Aspirants have to apply and appear for Joint Admission Test for M.Sc Programmes (JAM).

 Candidates have to qualify JAM and the qualifying candidates have to register for JAM counselling and on the official website of JAM.

During the counselling process, aspiring candidates have to fill in IIT Delhi as their first preference and then after the seat has been allotted, candidates have to get the document verified and pay the fee.

Fee payment and document verification is the last and mandatory stage of IIT Delhi M.Sc admission process in order to confirm the admission at the institute. 

Thus, the final admission is offered to the JAM qualified candidates is offered on the basis of their participation in the JAM counselling process, document verification and fee payment.

IIT Delhi M.Sc. Economics

Aspiring candidates wishing to pursue M.Sc.( Economics) have to download the application form and submit the completely filled form along with all the required documents on the website of IIT Delhi.

Admission shall be based on the marks obtained in the entrance exam conducted by the institute and personal interview.

Candidates will be shortlisted on the basis of the merit of the entrance examination and such candidates shall be eligible for the further admission procedure.

Shortlisted candidates have to appear for a personal interview and candidates qualifying the personal interview will be provisionally selected for the admission process until the last stage of the admission process gets completed.

Selected candidates have to get their documents verified and pay the requisite fee in order to confirm their admission.

Thus, the final admission of the candidates will be based on the merit of the entrance exam, performance in the interview, institute-level document verification and fee payment.

IIT Delhi M.Sc. Cognitive Science Admission

Candidates wishing to pursue M.Sc. in Cognitive Science from Indian Institute of Technology Delhi have to apply and appear for Cognitive Science Joint Entrance Test (COGJET).

Candidates have to qualify COGJET and then apply online on the PG portal of IIT Delhi.

Aspirants have to appear for a personal interview and they have to qualify it and such candidates will further have to get their documents verified and pay the fee.

Final selection of the candidate will be based on the marks obtained in COGJET, performance in the PI, institute-level document verification and fee payment.

IIT Delhi Doctoral Admission

IIT Delhi Ph.D Admission/M.Sc Research

Candidates qualify the eligibility criteria of the Ph.D programme have to submit an online application on the website of Indian Institute of Technology Delhi.

Admission is based on the performance in the interview conducted by the interviewers of the respective department and they may also take a test or multiple interviews in order to shortlist the candidates for the further part of the admission procedure.

Admission will be offered on the basis of merit in the entrance examination, seat allocation, document verification and fee payment.
