Glenn Maxwell breaks record of fastest century in Cricket World Cup

Glenn Maxwell had an incredible century in the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2023 against the Netherlands. Everyone was glued to their displays the entire time during the performance. And for that reason, we thought it was important to emphasize. Breaking records is not uncommon in cricket, but the fastest century in international level always has a special meaning. Particularly when the record is owned by Glenn Maxwell, who is both amusing and surprising. It was an absolute pleasure to watch him play, and that historic inning against the Netherlands was a testament to his style of play. Now let's examine his performance in more detail! Maxwell Magic There have been some of the best on-field performances in the history of ICC Men's World Cup. Glenn Maxwell gave one such performance in the 2023 World Cup match against the Netherlands. Maxwell blasted a spectacular century scoring 101 runs in just 40 balls, smashing 9 fours and an incredible 8 sixes with a 252.5 massive strike rate. Australia was playing Netherlands in their group stage match, and with to the top order's solid foundation, they were already comfortably ahead. It appeared like the Dutch team's fate was almost certain with Steve Smith and David Warner at the wicket. But Glenn Maxwell delivered an innings that was unmatched. Maxwell, who came in at number six, dominated the game with storm by his bat. It was difficult to believe he was playing the same game as other players when you watched him play. Aggressive Approach Maxwell batted with a mix of aggressiveness and deliberate risk-taking during his innings. He made perfect shots, sending the ball flying to all areas of the court. He scorched his way to a hundred in just forty-five balls, demonstrating that the circumstances had no effect on his performance. Maxwell's batting style is recognized for being aggressive, brave, and attacking. He's always been a player who enjoys challenging and exerting pressure on the bowlers.  Previous Records in World Cup Glenn Maxwell is ranked second time in the last three ICC Cricket World Cup matches on the list of quickest century. He also scored century in just 51 balls during the 2015 ICC Cricket World Cup match against Sri Lanka. Maxwell hit four sixes and 19 boundaries in his incredible 102 off 53 balls. But the record for the quickest century in an ODI World Cup was set by South African batsman Aiden Markram, who reached his century in 49 balls. In the current ICC Cricket World Cup at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Markram hit 106 runs off 56 balls versus Sri Lanka, which included fourteen boundaries and three sixes. Maxwell broke this record in the same tournament by hitting the fastest century in just 40 balls.  Records in ODIs In ODI cricket matches, the quickest century ever recorded was by South African batsman AB de Villiers against the West Indies in 2015, where he scored a century in just 31 balls. The second record of the fastest century is Corey Anderson's 36-ball century against the West Indies in 2014. Shahid Afridi's 37-ball century against Sri Lanka in 1996 comes in at number three in all-time fastest century in One Day International matches. Hope for Australia The Dutch bowlers seemed dumb and helpless in front of him after such a masterful effort. After Maxwell was out, the crowd was mesmerized, and the opposition team was merely relieved that they could now finally exhale. It was an innings that will be remembered for years to come—truly unforgettable. Maxwell's knock against the Netherlands represents a victory for Australian cricket as well as for himself. His century had a significant effect on the event, placing Australia in a strong position and making the rival team's task extremely difficult.
