About IIT Kanpur
Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur was established by the Government of India and was founded in 1959. It is also known as IIT Kanpur. The functioning of the institute started in the borrowed building of Harcourt Butler Technological Institute in 1959 in Kanpur. IIT Kanpur campus has 108 buildings and is spread over 1055 acres of land. The student-faculty ratio of the institute is 15:96. IIT Kanpur courses are offered at the UG, PG and doctoral level. IIT Kanpur Admission
Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur courses include B.Tech, M.Tech, MBA, BS, M.Sc, MS Research and PhD programme. Admission to B.Tech courses will be done on the basis of JEE Advanced after which the qualified candidates have to appear in the counselling process conducted by JoSAA. IIT Kanpur Admission Process for B.Tech/BS Mathematics and Scientific Computing/Economics/Chemistry/Earth Sciences/Physics
Firstly candidates have to appear and qualify JEE Advanced and then they have to register on the official website of Joint Seat Allocation Authority for participating in the JoSAA counselling.
Aspiring candidates have to participate in the JoSAA counselling and do the choice filling wherein they have to choose the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur as their first preference. After the filling of choices, they are locked and then seats are allotted to the students on the basis of the choices filled in by them.
Once the seat has been allotted in the JoSAA counselling, candidates have to get their documents verified by the authorities and then pay the requisite fee in order to confirm their admission.

Candidates who aspire to pursue M.Sc from IIT Kanpur have to firstly appear for the national-level examination JAM and for this they have to register through JAM Online Application Processing System (JOAPS).
Aspirants have to qualify JAM in order to be eligible for the next stage of Kanpur admission process. Candidates qualifying JAM have to apply for the JAM counselling process.

According to the IIT Kanpur M.Des admission process, candidates have to qualify CEED and then they have to submit an online application form on the website of IIT Kanpur.
Aspiring candidates have to participate in the counselling process that comprises seat allotment, document verification and fee payment.

Candidates will be offered admission on the basis of GATE scores however some candidates may be called for a written test and personal interview and hence candidates will be shortlisted accordingly.

The idea of launching a department dedicated to the study of Cognitive Science emerged in the year 2019 when Cognitive Science Experts team visited the campus as a part of the National Advisory Committee and the proposal was approved on December 7, 2020, at the meeting of the Board of Governors held.
