Engineering in India is a stream that is opted by a lot of students after completing their schooling. IITs are the most desired dream of engineering aspirants. IIT-JEE (Mains and advance) is one of the most prestigious top grade pre-engineering examinations given by the aspirants. One of the many reasons for this is the attractive salary package associated with the jobs available for engineering graduates. In JEE Main every year, total 12-14 Lacs student appeared for the most sought-after engineering entrance exam and only 2.4 Lacs qualified it. Now, total seats in IITs & NITs, after including all the Mathematics of reservation and quotas are just 45,000. Hence, for every 5.7 qualified students there is one seat. Even after including IIITs and Government funded technical institutes the situation just improves to one seat per five students.

Now, you must be wondering what happens to the remaining students? The answer is that they look for other available choices. So, there is nothing to worry if you are unable to crack JEE Main, instead know some other effective options.   1. JP NOIDA

Jaypee Institute of Information Technology, Noida was established in the year 2001 and has been declared as a "Deemed to be University" in the year 2004 is an educational institute fully backed and supported by Jaypee Group of Companies. In the pursuit of its objective, JIIT currently offers B.Tech, M.Tech, MBA and Ph.D. degrees. JIIT Noida is NAAC accredited with Grade 'B' and has received gold standard recognitions since its inception. It has signed MoUs with eight foreign universities for student/ faculty exchange and collaborative research. In addition to this, JIIT Noida has conducted and participated in 21 international conferences, 275 expert talks, 91 workshops and seminars with around 4450 delegates from around the world in the last five years.

Institute of Technology, established in 1995, is the flagship Institute of the Nirma University. The Institute is NAAC ‘A’ grade accredited in 2015 which endorses the quality standards followed in every aspect of education delivery. The university has eight constituent institutes, including Institute of Management, Institute of Technology, Institute of Law, Institute of Science, Institute of Commerce, Institute of Architecture & Planning, Institute of Pharmacy, Department of Design, Centre for Robotics and Automation, Centre for Advanced Instrumentation, Faculty of Doctoral Studies and Research, Centre for Continuing Education and Centre for Entrepreneurship offering undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programs.

All the B.Tech Programmes are accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA) under Tier-I category. No separate entrance test will be conducted and admissions will be based on JEE Main or GUJCET scores. Out of the total seats available, 50% seats are filled by ACPC, Gujarat on the basis of GUJCET score. In the remaining 50% seats, 35% seats are filled by JEE Main score and 15% seats are filled by NRI candidates. Seat allotment will be done on the basis of the merit list based on the performance in any of the mentioned two exams. Shortlisted candidates will have to report for the document verification process and pay the required amount of fee to confirm the admission.

Placement: Institute of Technology placements cell conducts in four stages involving the pre-placement activities, career guidance, placement execution, and post-placement reviews. The institute also ensures that the students are industry-ready through its various workshops and seminars. In the year 2019, 50 companies visited the campus and placed 95% of the total registered students. The highest salary was recorded to be ₹16 LPA while the average CTC was calculated to be ₹8.1 LPA.

  1. Manipal Institute of Technology

Manipal Institute of Technology, Manipal was established in the year 1957 as one of the first self-financing engineering college of India. It became a constituent institute of the deemed university- Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) in the year 2000, which is known today as Manipal Academy of Higher Education. The institute is affiliated to Karnataka University, Mysore University, Mangalore University and Visvesvaraya Technological University. MIT, Manipal offers B.Tech, M.Tech, M.Sc and MCA programmes to the students. MIT campus is spread over 600 Acres. Hostel facility is available for its students. Additional campus facilities such as Academic Zone, Boys Hostel, Canteen, Computer Lab, Girls Hostel, Library, Medical Facilities, Cls. Room, Sports, Trans. are also there.

Manipal Institute of Technology, Manipal is located at Udupi - Karkala Rd, Eshwar Nagar, Manipal, Karnataka. Udupi Railway Station is 4.2 km away from the institute. Mangalore International Airport is approx 70 km away from the institute.Students can participate in the Semester Abroad Programme offered by MIT. Under this programme, students can spend a semester abroad studying with leading foreign universities. Additionally, some of the international partners affiliated with this programme include notable names like Curtin University, RMIT University and Ohio State University. Placement: Approx 160 recruiting teams visit MIT Manipal for UG & PG campus placements & internship recruitment this year and  781 offers were received in B.Tech programme out of which 748 were accepted. The college has collaborations with many organisations like TCS “SANGAM” since 2003, EMC2 for Storage Area Network, Infosys for “Campus Connect” program, Quest India Ltd. for MS program in Mechanical Engineering, Intel Technology India Pvt.   1. SRM

SRM Institute of Science and Technology, is a deemed university located in Kattankulathur, Chengalpattu, Tamil Nadu, India, near Chennai. It was founded in 1985 as SRM Engineering College in Kattankulathur, under University of Madras. SRM Institute of Science and Technology includes six campuses, three in Tamil Nadu — Kattankulathur, Ramapuram and Vadapalani, one in NCR Delhi, one in Sikkim and one in Amaravati. And there are about 50,000 students studying in SRM College.

The institute gained deemed status during the 2003–2004 academic year and was renamed SRM Institute of Science and Technology. It became SRM University in 2006 following permission by the UGC for 'Deemed to be Universities' to be called 'Universities'. In 2017 it was renamed back as SRM Institute of Science and Technology following the UGC request to drop "University" from the name.

Placement: The final placements at SRM Institute of Science and Technology concluded with over 600 companies visiting the campus since the placement season. All these companies together rolled over 7,647 offers to the students. The top 4 IT industry giants including TCS, Cognizant, Infosys, Wipro offered a phenomenal 4,749 offers against last year's count of 3,020 offers. In addition to the final placements, companies like Pay Pal and Veritas made internship linked placement offers.   1. University of Petroleum & Energy Studies (UPES)

University of Petroleum & Energy Studies (UPES) was established in the year 2003 through UPES Act, 2003 of the State Legislature of Uttarakhand. UPES has a sprawling 44-acre campus in the lush and verdant environs of Dehradun. The university takes pride in offering its students a world-class academic infrastructure, multimedia-enabled classrooms, modern research labs, playing fields, food courts, hostels and facilities for curricular and extra-curricular activities. Admissions at UPES are done through two categories - Exam pathway and non-exam pathway. For exam pathway, admissions are done through the entrance exams conducted by UPES while for the non-exam pathway, admission is done on the basis of merit or score in the national entrance exams. B. Placement: University of Petroleum and Energy Studies (UPES) Dehradun, saw a record placement of 100% for the year 2019-20. The placement began on a high note with 2228 placements and with 2733 offers from top-notch companies till 15 July 2020. Two of the students from Computer Science Engineering, recorded the highest placement of INR 44 Lacs and INR 30 Lacs for gaming company. School of Design has closed with 100 % placements in record time with an average CTC of INR 4.34 LPA.

Maharashtra Institute of Technology (MIT) is the first private Engineering Institute to be established in the city of Pune, Maharashtra. VIT was founded in 1984 as a self-financing institution called the Vellore Engineering College. VIT campus is spread across a vast area of 372 acres. VIT is also ranked by QS World University Ranking, Times Higher Education (THE) World University Ranking, QS and THE Asia Ranking, QS and THE BRICS Ranking, THE Young university ranking of the world universities and others. 10 engineering programs of Vellore and 4 engineering programs of Chennai campus are accredited by ABET, USA. VIT is the first institute of India to receive QS 4-Star rating in overall category and QS 5-Star rating in teaching, employability, facilities, innovation and inclusiveness. Offering pioneering courses in Science, Engineering and Humanities, the institute comes with UG, PG and PhD programmes. Placement: The placement session of Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology (Thapar University) concluded with 994 job offers being rolled out by various companies. The highest salary package offered was 39 LPA. The average salary package offered was around 7 LPA. Top companies like Amazon, Microsoft and DE Shaw visited the campus for placements.

  1. KIIT

Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) offers UG, PG and Research programs in various disciplines through its different schools. KIIT was established in 1992 as a vocational training centre with only two staff and 12 students. The institute is in twelve landscaped and eco-friendly campuses of 700 acres (2.8 km2) in the temple city of Bhubaneswar. Each of the campuses is named after a river of India. Internationally, KIIT was ranked in the 291-300 band in the QS University Rankings BRICS University Rankings of 2019. KIIT has 30,000 students every year, the university offers about a hundred programmes in a variety of fields, including Technology, Management and Medicine. The institute has received an ‘A’ ranking by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC).

Placement: Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology or KIIT conducted its 2020 placement drive with the participation of more than 195 companies which provided over 4379 job offers. The highest salary package offered was 39 LPA. The average salary package offered was around 6 LPA. ‘Day-One’ campus recruitment drive this season generated about 1712 job offers from four companies: Accenture, Cognizant, Capgemini, & Wipro. Accenture is the top recruiter with 1030 job offers.
