MCC Chennai Department of Commerce was established in 1986. The department offers a multidisciplinary curriculum along with BCom vocational courses focusing on salesmanship, advertising, and marketing.

In 2006 the department was upgraded to a postgraduate department.  In 2008 it started offering BCom with a specialization in accounting and finance along with the general B. Com course. To keep up with the dynamic trends the syllabus includes an accounting package - tally and internships.
