IIT Kanpur had the greatest number of IPR filings in 2022

The Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur has filed the most IPRs in 2022. This is the Institute's second filling of the highest IPR in a year. In the fiscal year 2022, IIT Kanpur has filled 107 IPRs.

Among the 107 IPRs filed, there are 80 patents, 23 design registrations, 2 copyright and 1 trademark applications, as well as 1 US patent application.

According to the official press release, the patents cover ideas ranging from Nano technology to MedTech, which includes many healthcare solutions such as medication delivery systems based on medical plants often used in traditional medicine for the treatment of broken and sick bones.

Other patents include an Optimized Transgene for Ocular Gene Therapy, disease-modifying medication combinations for osteoarthritis therapy, and an electrochemical system for glucose testing, among others.

With IIT's supporting policy framework, the largest number of IPRs were filed. According to the official statement, the IP & Technology Transfer Office, IIT Kanpur has not only been working with great synergy to achieve the maximum number of IPR filings, but has also facilitated increased technology transfer transactions and disseminating technologies from institute laboratories to the assembly line of industries in the form of products.
