About NIT Srinagar 

National Institute of Technology, Srinagar is one of the premier Educational Institutes in the Northern Regions of the country. It was established in 1960 and has been one of the eighteen Regional Engineering Colleges sponsored by the Govt. of India during the 2nd Plan. The Institute acquired the status of National Institute of Technology with deemed to be University status during August, 2003 and attained full autonomy in its Academics.

The Institute is situated at the the banks of world-famous Dal Lake, with the far-famed Hazratbal Shrine on other side of the campus. NIT Srinagar is a residential Institute with accommodation facility in Hostels and Staff-Quarters. There are four Boys and one Girls hostel which swallops about 1500 boys and 200 girls. Besides running the B.Tech Programme the Institute also offers M.Tech programme in many streams.In addition to that a large number of students are registered for M.Phil and Ph.D Programmes.

NIT Srinagar Admission Process 2021

National Institute of Technology Srinagar provides undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programmes in engineering and technology. The Institute offers admissions to B.Tech and B.E programmes based on JEE Main scores and to postgraduate programmes based on the scores of GATE. NIT Srinagar B.Tech programmes include B.Tech Civil Engineering, B.Tech Electronics and Communication Engineering, B.Tech Electrical Engineering, B.Tech Chemical Engineering, B.Tech Mechanical Engineering, B.Tech Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, B.Tech Information Technology and B.Tech Computer Science Engineering. NIT Srinagar M.Tech programmes include M.Tech Electrical Power and Energy Systems, M.Tech Industrial Tribology and Maintenance Management, M.Tech Communication and Information Technology, M.Tech Mechanical System Design, M.Tech Structural Engineering, M.Tech Chemical Engineering, M.Tech Transportation Engineering, M.Tech Geotechnical Engineering, M.Tech Water Resources Engineering, and M.Tech Microelectronics.  NIT Srinagar B.Tech Admission Process: 

  • Candidates seeking admission to B.Tech/B.E programmes, have to appear and qualify JEE Main. 

  • Based on their scores in JEE Main, candidates have to register for JoSAA counselling on the official website of JoSAA along with necessary documents and payment of fees.

  • Candidates need to choose NIT Srinagar as the preferred college while doing the choice locking.

  • Candidates are offered admission to B.Tech/BE programmes based on JoSAA registration, participation in counselling, choice filling, choice locking, document verification and fee payment. 

 NIT Srinagar M.Tech Admission: 

  • Candidates seeking admission to PG programmes need to appear and qualify GATE.

  • Based on their GATE scores and eligibility criteria, students can proceed for CCMT counselling that is conducted to admit students to PG programmes.

  • Candidates need to register themselves for CCMT counselling by providing GATE credentials, qualifying degrees certificates, personal details etc. and by paying the requisite registration fees.

  • Candidates will have to select NIT Srinagar as their first preference while doing the choice locking.

  • Candidates will be offered admission to PG programmes based on the counselling participation, choice locking, choice filling, document verification and payment of fees.

 NIT Srinagar doctoral programmes:

  • Candidates seeking admission to doctoral programmes, need to clear the written test conducted by the respective departments.

  • Candidates who will qualify the written test, need to appear for an interview related to their research area.

  • Based on the marks scored by candidates in their written test and interview, merit list of the eligible candidates will be released by the authority.

  • Candidates interested in applying in more than one department needs to apply on separate application forms along with the appropriate fee.

  • Candidates will get admission to doctoral programmes of National Institute of Technology Srinagar after the successful verification of documents and payment of fees.

Scholarships

  • 100% Tuition Fee waiver for SC/ST/PH students.
