About IIT Roorkee

Indian Institute of Technology - Roorkee is among the foremost of institutes of national importance in higher technological education and in engineering, basic and applied research. Since its establishment, the Institute has played a vital role in providing the technical manpower and know-how to the country and in pursuit of research. The Institute ranks amongst the best technological institutions in the world and has contributed to all sectors of technological development. It has also been considered a trend-setter in the area of education and research in the field of science, technology, and engineering.

The Institute had celebrated its Sesquicentennial in October 1996 and now completed more than 170 years of its existence. It was converted to IIT on September 21, 2001 by an Ordinance issued by the Government of India declared it as the nation’s seventh Indian Institute of Technology, an “Institution of National Importance”.

The Institute offers Bachelor's Degree courses in 10 disciplines of Engineering and Architecture and Postgraduate's Degree in 55 disciplines of Engineering, Applied Science, Architecture and planning. The Institute has facility for doctoral work in all Departments and Research Centres. The Institute admits students to B.Tech. and B.Arch. courses through the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) conducted at various centres all over India.

IIT Roorkee Admission

Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee courses includes B.Tech, B.E, B.Arch, M.Sc, MBA, M.Tech, M.Arch, MURP and Ph.D. The Institute offers admissions to B.Tech and B.E programmes based on JEE Advanced scores whereas IIT Roorkee B.Arch programme admission is based on JEE Advanced and AAT scores. IIT Roorkee offers admission to the M.Sc programme based on JAM scores, followed by the participation in the JAM counselling. According to the IIT Roorkee admission process for MBA programmes, candidates should have valid CAT score and then they have to qualify GD and PI. IIT Roorkee offers admissions to M.Tech, M.Arch and MURP courses based on the scores of Gratitude Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE). The Institute also offers admissions to Ph.D programmes based on the performance of written test and interview conducted by the authority. IIT Roorkee Admission to all UG Programmes

According to the IIT Roorkee admission process, candidates have to first appear and qualify JEE Advanced.
For IIT Roorkee B.Arch admission, students have to qualify the Architecture Aptitude Test (AAT) after qualifying JEE (Advanced).
Once the candidate qualifies JEE Advanced, they have to register on the official website of Joint Seat Allocation Authority for participating to participate in the JoSAA counselling.
Aspirants have to be a part of the choice filling wherein they have to choose the Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee as their first preference.
After the filling of choices, they are locked and then seats are allotted to the students accordingly on the basis of merit and choices filled in by them.
Once the seat allotment in the JoSAA counselling is done, candidates have to get their documents verified and then pay the requisite fee in order to confirm their admission.
IIT Roorkee hive final admittance to the students on the basis of the marks secured in JEE Advanced, AAT (in case of B.Arch students), participation in JoSSA counselling, choice filling, choice locking, document verification and fee payment.
IIT Roorkee PG Admissions

IIT Roorkee M.Sc Admission:

Candidates desirous to take admission to the M.Sc programme offered by Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee have to apply and appear for Joint Admission Test for M.Sc Programmes (JAM) conducted by the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur and they have to qualify it.
Qualifying candidates have to register for participating in the JAM counselling and on the official website of JAM.
Aspiring candidates have to fill in IIT Roorkee as their first preference during the choice filling and then after the seat has been allotted, candidates have to get the document verified and pay the fee.
Thus, the final admission of the JAM qualified candidates is offered on the basis of their participation in the JAM counselling process, document verification and fee payment.
IIT Roorkee MBA Admission:

MBA aspirants have to apply and appear for CAT and obtain valid scores.
On the basis of the CAT scores, candidates have to submit an online application on the website of Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee.
JEE qualified IIT graduates with CGPA 8 and above are eligible for direct admissions.
Selection of candidates for GD/Interview will be made on the basis of their performance in CAT and the shortlisted applicants have to appear for a personal interview and group discussion.
Final shortlisting of the candidates for participating in the last stage of IIT Roorkee admission process will be based on the marks secured in CAT, personal interview, group discussion and work experience and other valuable inputs.
Aspirants must note that 65% weightage will be given to CAT percentile, 20% on the interview, 10% on group discussion and 5% on work experience.
Shortlisted candidates have to get their documents verified and then pay the fees for MBA programme and their admissions confirmed at IIT Roorkee.
IIT Roorkee M.Tech/M.Arch./MURP Admission

Aspiring candidates have to apply on the website of GOAPS and appear for the Gratitude Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE).
Candidates who have graduated from IIT and have scored at least a CGPA of 8.00 on a 10 point scale are given direct admission and the requirement of GATE score is waived off.
Further on the basis of the GATE score, candidates have to register on the website of Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee.
A merit list will be prepared by the authorities on the basis of normalized GATE scores of candidates and scores of IIT graduates and candidates whose names appear on the merit list are eligible to be a part of the next stage of IIT Roorkee admission process.
Candidates have to register on COAP website for participating in the counselling process and after seats are allotted through COAP, candidates have to get the documents verified and pay the requisite course fee.
After the documentation process and payment of fee is done successfully, the admission of the candidate is confirmed by IIT Roorkee.
IIT Roorkee Doctoral Admission

IIT Roorkee PhD Admission

Aspiring candidates have to qualify the eligibility criteria of the Ph.D programme and submit an online application on the website of Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee.
After the screening of the applications, Ph.D aspirants will be called for a written test and then they have to appear for an interview.
Candidates qualifying the interview will be shortlisted and only these candidates will go ahead with the further part of the IIT Roorkee admission procedure.
The last stage of the admission process comprises document verification and fee payment and hence it is a mandatory process to confirm their admissions.
Final admission to the IIT Roorkee Ph.D course is offered on the basis of the marks obtained in the written test, performance in the PI, document verification and fee payment.
