About IIT Dharwad

Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Dharwad is an autonomous institute established by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India in 2016 under the mentorship of IIT Bombay. The institute offers B.Tech programmes in computer science, electrical engineering and mechanical engineering. IIT Dharwad doctoral degree programmes were commenced in 2018, and it has been announced by the IITDH that Masters programmes will commence soon. The contemporary campus of IIT Dharwad is situated at Water and Land Management Institute (WLMI), which is providing all the necessary facilities including hostel, laboratories, library and classrooms. The Karnataka Government has approved the land for the establishment of the permanent campus of IIT Dharwad, this campus is about 3 km away from the present WALMI campus.

By hiring a cab from the railway station, the students can reach the institute in 25 mins. Hubballi is the nearest airport to IIT Dharwad and is 29.9 km away. IIT Dharwad Admission

Indian Institute of Technology Dharwad offers B.Tech programmes in computer science, electrical engineering and mechanical engineering. The MS and PhD programmes were commenced in 2018, and it has been announced by the IITDH that Masters programmes will commence soon. The course and curriculum of B.Tech and PhD programmes of IIT Dharwad are based on the IIT Bombay and IITDH offers these programmes through eight departments - Biosciences and Bioengineering (BSBE), Chemistry (CH), Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), Electrical Engineering (EE), Humanities and Social Sciences (HSS), Mathematics (MA), Mechanical Engineering (ME), and Physics (PH).

IIT Dharwad B.Tech admission is on the basis of the scores of Joint Entrance Exam Advanced (JEE Advanced) and candidates qualifying JEE Advanced will further have to register with Joint Seat Allocation Authority for JoSAA counselling. IIT Dharwad PhD and MS admission are on the basis of GATE/Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) of CSIR/UGC/DST INSPIRE Fellowship. IIT Dharwad B.Tech Programmes:-

  • Candidates will have to appear for the Joint Entrance Examination (Mains) (JEE (Main)).
  • Candidates who have given JEE (Mains) have to register for Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSSA)/Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB) counselling.
  • Candidates are allotted admission/seats based on JoSAA registration, choice filling, choice locking, document verification, physical reporting to the institute and fee payment.

IIT Dharwad MS Programmes:-

  • Candidates have to apply online on the official website and have to submit the application form along with the requisite documents.
  • Candidates have to appear for the Graduate Aptitude Test Engineering (GATE).
  • Shortlisted candidates will be called for the admission process that consists of a screening test or interview by a Selection Committee.
  • For Teaching Assistants' candidates, a valid GATE score is essential (except for candidates who have B.Tech or equivalent degree from IITs or BS degree from IISc with minimum CPI/CGPA of 8.0 on the scale of 10).

IIT Dharwad PhD Programmes:-

  • Candidates have to apply online on the official website and have to submit the application form along with the requisite documents.
  • Candidates have to appear for the GATE/Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) of CSIR/UGC/DST INSPIRE Fellowship and obtain a valid score.
